Cloud by default, on-prem when it matters

Most workloads belong in public cloud, and we say so plainly. Elastic capacity, managed services, and a global footprint are hard to beat when your constraints are ordinary. But “most” isn’t “all” — and treating cloud as the only option is how teams end up forcing a regulated, latency-bound, or sovereignty-bound workload into a place it was never meant to run.

When on-prem or hybrid earns its place

There are a handful of honest reasons to keep workloads on your own hardware, and none of them are nostalgia:

• Data residency and sovereignty — regulation, or a contract, requires the data to stay inside borders no public region covers.
• Air-gapped and disconnected estates — the environment has no route to a public cloud, by design.
• Latency and proximity — the workload has to sit next to a factory floor, a trading engine, or critical infrastructure measured in single-digit milliseconds.
• Existing capital — you already own the data centre, and the economics of the next three years favour using it.

If none of these apply, cloud wins. If one of them does, forcing cloud is the expensive mistake, not the safe one.

One control plane, wherever it runs

The failure mode isn’t choosing on-prem — it’s running on-prem and cloud as two disconnected worlds, each with its own tooling, its own identity model, and its own way of shipping. That’s how hybrid becomes twice the operational cost for half the reliability.

We treat deployment target as a variable, not a rewrite. The same landing-zone rigor — infrastructure as code, GitOps delivery, policy-as-code, and one identity and observability model — spans cloud and data centre alike. The workload doesn’t care where it lands, and neither does your on-call.

Cloud-native by default, on-prem where it matters, hybrid when both are true — decided by your constraints, not our defaults.
